BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT) Kaitlin McCulley --It's not exactly a Buddhist temple, but inmates in this maximum security Alabama prison are practicing the ancient meditation tradition.
Fernandrez Jordan has been an inmate for three years. "It's helped me to understand the repercussions of the actions I've done in the past."
It's all part of a meditation practice called Vipassana. The chants and music guide listeners into a state of awareness of the moment.
Director of Treatment, Ron Cavanaugh says they're seeing an improvement in inmates' behavior.
